About the Venue

The brand new Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI) at Stellenbosch University’s Tygerberg campus is a world-class future-focused research complex.

The BMRI houses leading South African researchers and students who are investigating diseases that have the greatest impact on South Africa and the rest of Africa in order to translate their discoveries into improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses such as tuberculosis, cardio-metabolic disease, HIV, diabetes and neurological disorders. 

Accommodation

Delegates attending in-person are responsible for organising their own accommodations. We can suggest staying nearby in Tygerberg, in Century City (20min Drive) or in downtown Cape Town (Waterfront, etc). 

Accessing the Venue

The Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI) is located on Stellenbosch University’s Tygerberg campus. To access this campus on-foot or by car, you will need to show your ID at the front gate. You can find more details below:

 

All visitors driving themselves must present a valid driver’s license at the entry point. For those arriving via taxi or Uber, the driver is required to present a valid ID. This protocol is in place to maintain campus security and visitor safety.

 

Locating the BMRI: The Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI) is situated to the left of the Main Clinical Building, when facing the building’s front entrance.

Entering the BMRI: The entrance to the BMRI is located on the right side of the BMRI building, as you face it. On the day of the event, security will be present for assistance, and the doors to the BMRI will be open to welcome attendees.
